Turkey is trying desperately to legalize its claims against Greece

Turkey is trying, desperately, to legalize its claims against Greece basing its claim on one term included in the Lausanne agreement which states that the islands close to Turkey’s coαst should be disarmed. This is true, yet the same treaty states that Turkey has no rights to claim any sovereignty outside the limit of 3 miles from the Turkish cost.

The treaty does not state that disarmament is a condition that Greece will loose sovereign rights if such term is violated. In addition, Turkey does not respect international law as Turkey has not signed the international law or the international law for the sea that almost all countries have signed.

Further, the treaty specifically includes two islands that were given to Turkey, Imbros and Tenedos with conditions allowing the island population to have local government rights that Turkey has violated.

The reasons that all Aegean islands have not been mentioned by name in the treaty is obvious, no treaty can include a list of 2.500 names, it is obvious that the 3miles limit mentioned was considered enough to clarify the problem of sovereignty.

Apart from the actual reason why the term of disarmament of the islands was included, which was to ensure that the islands will not be used to attack Turkey after the defeat of the Greek army during 1922, there is a term under UN international law that every country has the right to defend itself against any foreign threat. Turkey has already concentrated a huge army exactly opposite the Greek islands and threaten Greece with “casus belli” if Greece exercises its rights to extend its territorial waters from six miles to twelve.

Then a reasonable question rises, why Turkey is starting such an aggressive activity against Greece, but it is obvious, geopolitical conditions have changed in the area and the islands have acquired more importance than 100 years ago.

This is not a good enough reason to violate International law and sovereignty of any country

What a beautiful world!!!!!

Turkey openly declares to the world that Turkey is bigger than its current frontiers and needs to expand to retain and honor its obligation to its history and the future generations!!!!

Can anyone imagine UK, Germany, France, Portugal, US, Italy, even Greece making similar statements?
